Simplification

BODMAS Rule:

BODMAS rule tells the order in which simplification should be performed.

B means Bracket 
O means of
D means Division
M means Multiplication
A means Addition 
S means Subtraction
 

Simplification Steps

1. First of all the brackets must be removed, strictly in the order :
  • Vinculum ----
  • Circular Bracket ( )
  • Curly Bracket { }
  • Square Bracket [ ]
2. After removing the brackets, and then follow the below order:
  • OF
  • Division
  • Multiplication
  • Addition
  • Subtraction

Modulus of a real number a is defined as

a, if a > 0
-a, if a < 0
Thus, |7| = 7 and |-7| = -(-7) = 7.
